Paxos Festival 2023

ABOUT US

Friends of Paxos is a non-profit association founded in 2015 by the initiative of Chris Boïcos and Faye Lychnou on the island of Paxos in the Ionian sea. The honorary president of the association is Katerina Koskina, former director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens.

The objective of the society is to initiate, encourage and organize cultural activities of every type on the island - musical concerts, art exhibitions, art residencies, musical and artistic workshops and other cultural and artistic projects.

Friends of Paxos is also responsible for the organization of the musical events of the annual Paxos Festival which celebrated its 36th anniversary in 2022. A most notable addition to the Paxos festival has been the “Irish Wings” week sponsored by Culture Ireland and Paxos resident Kathryn Baird, which has brought to Paxos internationally known Irish musicians, artists and poets, with whom we are starting the 2023 season.

The association also encourages and participates in projects concerning the preservation of the island’s architectural, cultural and natural patrimony. Among our projects successfully completed in the last seven years, was the restoration of the bronze statue of Greek war of independence hero George Anemoyiannis in Gaios, the restoration of a number of 17th and 18th century murals in Paxos churches as well as the clearing and maintenance of ancient footpaths on the island.

Friends of Paxos has no public or institutional support and is entirely dependent for its funding on the annual contributions of its members and their generosity. If you wish to join us, contribute to our activities or have any questions please contact us.
